Iglesia y Convento de San Augustín

Church and Convent of San Augustín

Although it is not opened to the

public, most of it can be seen from the outside.

It is located at the corner of 5ta Calle Poniente and 7a Avenida Sur or Calle de Cristobal Colón.

A permission was issued to build the convent, but denied because there were too many temples in that part of town. With the help from Don Manuel Estévez it was build by Juan Pascual, a local architect.

It was opened in 1515.  The convent was called San Lorenzo.
