Although there are not many museums in Guatemala City, there are some very interesting. Palacio de la Cultura (formerly known as Palacio Nacional or National Palace) is where government offices are located, but is also a museum.

Also worth visiting are Museo Ixchel and Museo Popol Vuh, located at Universidad Francisco Marroquín. These are privately held and maintained, and maybe the best kept. Museo de Antropología, Arqueología e Historia (Anthropology, Archeological  and History Huseum) and Museo de Arte Moderno (Modern Art  museum) are located very close to the Mercado de Artesanías (Handcrafts Market)  and the Zoo.
