Don't mistake this lake with Lake Atitlán or Panajachel, this is a very different lake. It is a much smaller lake, located near Guatemala City. I would not even recommend you go on a weekday, it is just a not so clean lake with a not so nice beach, but on weekends it is a different story, It is a very good illustration of Guatemalan Culture. It is a very nice market, where people go to picnic, go swimming or rowing in the lake or to buy handcrafts. You can also go to United Nations Park (Parque Naciones Unidas) where you can see the lake from above
